SPECIAL MESSAGE
From the Desk of Vice Provost (Student Life)

TAN Tai Yong, National University of Singapore

The university used to be a place people go to access an education. Today’s universities however are places not just of learning, but also places for developing holistic individuals. Universities all over the world are therefore increasingly focused on promoting a student-centric learning environment—an environment where students obtain not just formal disciplinary training, but also involve themselves in informal interaction with peers and professors, cultivating both work specific and life skills that will put them in a good position to negotiate the world beyond university walls. SPECIAL MESSAGE
From the Desk of Vice Provost (Eductaion)

TAN Thiam Soon, National University of Singapore

Education has been an important factor in Singapore’s nation-building years, and four decades later, it continues to be among the top priorities on the national agenda. We are now squarely situated within the 21st century—the Gen Y era—and educating this generation of “digital natives/learners” presents many of us with an interesting challenge. I am therefore pleased that this year, the NUS/CDTL conference series, TLHE chooses as its theme student centricity and the empowerment of Gen Y learners. Click for more.
