For Deans and Heads of Departments:

  • Dialogue sessions with the Deans and Heads of Departments to stimulate reflection on teaching in higher education and to discuss other teaching/learning related issues.

For new faculty:

  • Professional Development Programme (Teaching) (PDP-T) for new university teachers at NUS to encourage understanding and appreciation of the educational philosophy and academic mission of NUS, develop a perspective on issues in teaching and learning, and enhance their quality of teaching. Some of the modules offered include Facilitating Learning, Large and Small Group Teaching and Assessment.

For ALL faculty:

  • The Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPDP) to encourage all NUS faculty to continuously upgrade their professional skills. Through the programme, faculty will be spurred on to keep current of trends and thinking in the areas of teaching and learning and will be exposed to good practices and techniques in teaching.

For teaching assistants:

  • A training programme to help teaching assistants meet their responsibilities competently.
  • Workshops on the use of information technology in teaching.

For students:

  • Workshops on effective learning. Topics include learning styles, reading skills, group dynamics, effective writing, critical thinking and stress management.
