Teaching in the humanities and social sciences takes dedicated scholars to make it work. This year's symposium, to be spread out over two half days, presents the day-to-day teaching experiences of a cross-section of the faculty in FASS. The theme of the symposium is on innovative approaches to university teaching and learning, including (but not limited to) large and small class teaching, discussion groups, the use of technology, and the teaching of GEMS.  Innovative teaching and learning approaches which are multi-/trans-/inter- disciplinary are particularly welcome.  We plan to publish, but not assert copyright on, the collection of papers for wider dissemination.
