To help secondary and tertiary students acquire the capacity to engage
in independent research, CDTL conducted a workshop on Introduction to
Research on 24 & 25 March 2004 at Raffles Institution AV Theatre for
117 teaching staff at Raffles Institution to help the teachers develop
a broad understanding of the following topics:
- Knowledge and Inquiry
- Purpose of Inquiry
- Grounds of Inquiry
- Reasoning from Grounds to Conclusions
- Norms and standards of Justification/Proof/ Argumentation
- Literature Search
- Communication
- Exercises
- Projects, extended essays and theses
- Ethics of Research
Prof KP Mohanan, together with Prof Alex Ip, A/P Aslaksen, A/P
Anjam Kursheed, Dr Robin Loon & A/P Peter Pang addressed this
workshop on the topic of research. |
