Synopsis
IVLE (Integrated Virtual Learning Environment) is a learning management system designed to facilitate and supplement teaching and thereby, promote student learning at NUS. This hands-on workshop familiarizes participants with IVLE and its tools. It will help participants gain the basic knowledge and experience necessary to either supplement an existing course or to design an entirely new course in IVLE. The workshop helps you acquire the foundational knowledge and skills to create and manage a module with emphasis on the commonly used tools like the lesson plan, the discussion forum and the workbin.
Learning objectives
At the end of the workshop you should be able to:
- Access, describe and customise the IVLE workspace
- Create and configure a module
- Add course information into the module
- Create, configure and access a lesson plan, discussion forum and workbin
- Add instructional resources to the lesson plan
- Add topics and messages to the discussion forum
- Add course materials to the workbin
- Link the discussion forum and workbin to the lesson plan
Prerequisites
This workshop gives a basic introduction to IVLE and is ideal for new staff who have little or no knowledge of IVLE.
