InterjectionsMany single-word or single-phrase expressions that express sudden emotions such as surprise, shock, happiness, excitement, disappointment, etc. are categorised as Interjections. Examples include: Oh! Goodness gracious! Oh dear! and My goodness! In Singlish, such expressions as Alamak! Shiok! and Seow! which are said in a louder voice or with much alarm and excitement, would also belong to this category. However, interjections expressing writers' spontaneous personal excitement rarely occur in formal written papers and essays, and even less so the Singlish ones (c.f. Singlish).
